You ve got your first telescope - now what? In this course, you ll learn how to make your telescope work for you. We ll highlight the five most common telescope issues people have and how you can solve them easily, with no further expenses. Discover what all those numbers on the eyepieces mean, and what those accessories do.

Topics include

- What can I see tonight?

- Brief overview of telescope designs

- Setting up: tripod/mounting, finder scope, star charts

- Manual finding or computer assist? 

- First targets: the Moon and Planets

- Star hopping: How to find stuff

- How eyepieces work   magnification and field-of-view

- Accessories, and which ones you need

- Basic photography through the telescope

Intermediate-level courses assume some basic experience on the part of the student. For this course it is assumed that the student has a telescope with appropriate mount and eyepieces. The course is conducted as an online Zoom meeting. You will need a device and an internet connection to participate.

Intermediate courses are $25 for Museum members and $30 for non-members.
