Event Rating: Adult

Did you know that the color blue can be derived from plants? Among the natural dyes in the world, indigo* is the most magical to experience. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn about what makes dyeing with indigo unique, surface design techniques, and create an indigo-dyed bandana entirely hand-made by you! Join us at the Manitoba Museum for an interactive Indigo Experience!
This class will be taught by Lourdes Still, the creative behind Masagana Flower Farm & Studio, a small-scale flower farm, dye studio, and experiential tourism destination near Richer, Manitoba. She grows seasonal blooms, dye plants, and makes handmade, small-batch, naturally dyed textile goods. She believes that growing joy (through flowers) and creating magic (through dye plants) are right at our fingertips and our gardens present opportunities to respond positively to the climate emergency.
*Although we grow indigo at Masagana Flower Farm, the amount of pigment we can extract from plants is not enough for every workshop guest. So, the Indigo used in this experience is supplemented by Indigo responsibly sourced from Asia
